  • Open Position - Senior Level Estimator

    We are currently seeking a Senior Level Estimator.

    Morrissey Construction Company seeks a qualified senior level estimator experienced in multifamily residential and commercial building construction for budget, negotiated and competitively bid jobs from $100,000 to $20,000,000 with strong communication, organization and leadership skills.


    Qualified candidates must have:

    • At least 10 years’ experience in cost estimating general building construction in commercial/multifamily projects ranging from 1 to 20 million dollars
    • High ethical standards and behavior
    • Excellent problem solving and decision-making skills
    • Proficiency in computer software applications
    • The ability to build teams, lead projects, and manage resources
    • Effective oral and written communication skills

    Position description is as follows:

    • Prepare detailed estimates (conceptual, schematic, design development, construction)
    • Ensure that estimates, including general conditions, are accurate, complete and reflect the actual requirements of the project. This includes ensuring that there are an adequate number of qualified and financially sound subcontractor proposals received and evaluated.
    • Prepare bid packages, obtain bids from subcontractors and material vendors, and analyze bids from subcontractors and material vendors.
    • Effectively communicate with the owner, A/E’s and subcontractors to resolve technical matters during negotiation and contract execution.
    • Prepare subcontracts and major purchase orders in accordance with the documents and the estimate.
    • Coordinate the assembly of the pre-construction material for presentation purposes to the owner.
    • Coordinate, manage, supervise, train, and mentor support resources for subordinate pre-construction members and support staff.
    • Develop a preliminary construction schedule for each estimate.
    • Keep current on changes and trends in methods of construction and materials, construction costs, wage rates, fringes and working rules.
    • Identify and qualify new material suppliers and subcontractors and place into subcontractor database.
    • Create and maintain professional relationships with clients and A/E contacts. This includes attending client-initiated meetings and ceremonial events.
    • Identify new work opportunities and inform Sales and Marketing of potential projects with current clients.

  • Open Position - Senior Project Manager

    We are currently seeking a Senior Project Manager.

    Morrissey Construction Company is a progressive construction firm concentrating in multifamily housing, educational, government, retail, commercial, restaurant, and recreational facilities. We currently have a Senior Project Manager position available at our Godfrey, IL office.


    Qualified Candidates must have:

    • At least 10 years’ experience in general building construction experience in commercial/multifamily projects ranging from 1 to 20 million dollars.
    • 4 year College Degree.
    • Ability to build teams, lead projects, and manage resources.
    • Strong understanding of all aspects of commercial and governmental construction, including building code requirements, a basic understanding of all constructions trades, means and methods; the ability to read blueprints, do quantity takeoffs and cost estimating and critical path scheduling.
    • Understanding of construction contracts and documents, OSHA and other legal and regulatory requirements of the construction industry.
    • High ethical standards and behavior.
    • Excellent problem solving and decision-making skills.
    • Proficiency in construction computer software applications.

    Position Description is as follows:

    • Overall responsibility for the successful construction and completion of projects in a quality, timely, profitable and safe manner.
    • Manage the orderly, timely transition of projects from estimating to the field, including project review meetings, review of contract requirements, general conditions, schedules, budgets, subcontracts, and purchase order agreements.
    • Prepare subcontracts and purchase orders in accordance with the contract documents and the estimate when necessary.
    • Manages the execution of purchase order agreements and
    • subcontracts with respect to insurance certificates, bonds, and the appropriate lien waivers.
    • Develop and maintain a project construction schedule and provide monthly updates. Monthly updates to include recovery measures for any slippage and include all significant contract change orders or delays.
    • Conduct weekly project progress meetings with the key subs, including preparation of meeting minutes.
    • Prepare the monthly progress report in coordination with the Superintendent. Uses available reports to manage costs and prepare accurate cost projections.
    • Reviews estimates with attention to: Adherence to cost control system, Equipment requirements and utilization, Constructability, materials, and manpower.
    • Review and update the project financial budget continuously. Take proactive measures to ensure project budget constraints are met.
    • Maintain accurate job accounting records, including change orders.
    • Review, approve and process owner, subcontractor & supplier invoices and payments, including all associated lien releases. Manage all billings to ensure timely submission of payment applications and receipt of payments from the owner in order to maintain a positive cash flow position.
    • Estimate and generate all change orders as required.
    • Generate and respond to all required project correspondence.
    • Review, approve and distribute all required submittals.
    • Completes close out requirements and punch lists in a timely manner. Handles warranty callbacks quickly to maintain owner/client relationships.
    • Oversee punch lists and prompt completion of all project closing requirements.
    • Ensure compliance with the safety program and all other safety requirements.
    • Ensure compliance with all contract requirements and provisions.
    • Implement and ensure compliance with project quality control program.
    • Ensure all project files are properly maintained.
    • Initiate and maintain liaison with client and A/E contacts to facilitate successful construction management process. This includes attending client-initiated meetings and ceremonial events.
    • Maintain positive project relationships with Owner, Architect, Subcontractors, and Suppliers.
    • Coordinate, manage, supervise, train, and mentor support resources for subordinate team members and support staff.
    • Keep current on changes and trends in methods of construction and materials, construction costs, wage rates, fringes, and working rules.
    • Identify new work opportunities and inform Sales and Marketing of potential projects with current clients.
